IndiGo affiliate opens aircraft engineering school

The School for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers in Greater Noida will offer a DGCA-approved three-year Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course, IndiGo affiliate says

New Delhi: InterGlobe Enterprises, through its group company InterGlobe Education Services Ltd (IGES), has started an aircraft maintenance school extending part of its pilot training academy on the outskirts of Delhi.

The School for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) in Greater Noida will offer a DGCA-approved three-year Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course in Mechanical and Avionics, the firm said in a statement.

InterGlobe group also owns InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, which operates IndiGo, the low-cost carrier that has 126 planes in its fleet and nearly 416 Airbus A320 new-engine options, or neos, on order.

SAME will provide aspiring Aircraft Maintenance engineers the requisite training and skills through a combination of rigorous class-room training, practical knowledge and on-the-job-training.

The AME course prepares students for obtaining a licence from the DGCA to undertake maintenance of civil aircraft registered in India.

Students who have passed their Class XII examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics from a recognized board or university or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 50% are eligible to apply for the programme.

SAME will function from InterGlobe Group’s CAE Simulation Training Private Limited (CSTPL) where pilots test their flying on aircraft simulators.

“The SAME Placement Cell will assist SAME students in being considered for training and employment with Indian and foreign airlines, including the largest Indian airline, IndiGo, provided they are found suitable in terms of the qualification and standards laid down by these airlines.
